The United States that says one thing and does the other is the
only obstacle to resolution of the Karabakh conflict, political
expert Sergey Shakaryants told media on Wednesday. "If the USA were
removed from the OSCE MG, Russia and France would much easier agree
on that issue. The South Caucasus is the initial place where there is
conflict of interests of many countries. What is currently happening
in the region is another game of superpowers," he said. Shakaryants
believes that traveling to the region the OSCE MG co-chairs made
another demonstrative step. Visiting Baku and then Stepanakert the
co-chairs wanted to highlight that borders of NKR and Azerbaijan are
allegedly open, which was nothing but a game. "It would be better
if they visited Yerevan and then Stepanakert to prove unity of the
two Armenian countries," Shakaryants said. Since 1992 the OSCE Minsk
Group represented by co-chairs from Russia, U.S. and France has been
mediating in resolution of the conflict unleashed by Azerbaijan in
1988. At present the peace process is based on the Madrid Principles
suggested by the OSCE MG in 2007 in Madrid and renovated in 2009.
