    THE FIRST SESSION OF ARMENIA-RUSSIA INTER-GOVERNMENTAL COMMITTEE TO BE HELD IN AUTUMN

    YEREVAN

    YEREVAN. AUGUST 8, ARMENPRESS: In Moscow took place the meeting of
    the Presidents of Armenia and Russia Serzh Sargsyan and Vladimir Putin.

    Armenpress reports calling "Ria-novosti" that Putin declared the new
    Armenia-Russia inter-governmental committee on economic cooperation has
    been formed and the first session will be held in autumn of current
    year. "The meeting of Armenian and Russian partners has been planned
    in autumn" said Putin. In his words from Russian side the committee
    will be chaired by Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov.

    Russian President reminded that in results of 2011 the goods turnover
    between two countries was 1 billion dollars and this year it has
    increased by 32 percent in comparison of the same period of last year.

    Each year citizens of Armenia who work in Russia send to their families
    around 1 billion dollars.

    "During coming two-three years it will be possible to double and even
    triple the bilateral goods turnover" declared Serzh Sargsyan. Armenian
    President also highlighted the successful cooperation in military
    filed. "We have prolonged the duration of activity of Russian bases
    in Armenia. Their existence in Armenia is in the framework of our
    security" mentioned Serzh Sargsyan.

    The leaders of the countries also discussed security issues of South
    Caucasus, agenda of bilateral relations, international and regional
    issues and perspectives of deepening bilateral relations in CIS
    territory.
