New Zealand, Armenian FMs discuss Asia-Pacific issues

    WELLINGTON Aug. 9

New Zealand Foreign Minister Murray McCully Thursday held talks to
discuss cooperation with his visiting counterpart from Armenia.

McCully said he and Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian would
also discuss bilateral relations and issues affecting the Asia-Pacific
    region.

"This visit is an excellent opportunity to discuss further cooperation
between New Zealand and Armenia," McCully said in a statement.

Nalbandian would also meet Speaker of the New Zealand Parliament
Lockwood Smith and Chief Justice Dame Sian Ellis, as well as members
    of the local Armenian community.

The Republic of Armenia gained independence from the former USSR in
1991, and in recent years had forged links with the European Union
    through the Eastern Partnership forum.
