    EC examines document refer to Azerbaijani anti Armenian textbooks

    YEREVAN, AUGUST 25, ARMENPRESS: Armenian delegation member to
    Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Naira Zohrabyan
    sent an official document to EC Human Rights commissioner. In the
    briefing with Armenpress Zohrabyan told in official letter she
    required EC to subject Azerbaijani textbooks to examination.

    "Still in the course of July session I had raised the issue of anti
    Armenian topic depicted in Azerbaijani textbooks, in official letter I
    already included relevant excerpts, copies where Armenians are
    considered slaughterers, racism manifestation cases. Before the launch
    of October session I look forward the reply of the letter and their
    assessments" Zohrabyan stated. According to the interlocutor the
    report of the commissioner is scheduled to be included in the session,
    yet in case of not getting the rely till then, MP will raise the issue
    before him in the plenary session as well. In the words of Zohrabyan
    PACE agenda is set to be approved after PACE Bureau session due
    September 3.

    PACE summer session was launched on June 25-29.Conditioned to the
    formation of new Assembly Armenian delegation participated by its
    former delegation composition : delegation head Davit Harutyunyan,
    members Armen Rustamyan, Naira Zohrabyan, Artsruni Aghajanian, while
    the team substitute made : Zaruhi Postanjyan , Grigori Margaryan,
    Hermine Naghdalyan, Armen Melikyan. The themes on the growth of
    crisis, racism, xenophobia and extremism in Europe were thoroughly
    discussed during PACE summer session. The issue of EC member states'
    political prisoners was also touched upon, in this regard PACE legal
    commission adopted a report on `Azerbaijani political prisoners'
    existence' which is scheduled to be envisaged at PACE autumn session.
