PHILIPPE KALTENBACH CONDEMNED RELEASE AND PARDONING OF SAFAROV

    ARMENPRESS
    4 September, 2012
    YEREVAN

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS: Representative of Socialist party of
France, Senator Philippe Kaltenbach expressed deep concern on occasion
of extradition and pardon of Azerbaijani blood-mad Ramil Safarov.

Armenpress reports that in the statement released on occasion of the
case Kaltenbach stresses that the punishment of the criminal given
by Hungarian justice had to be respected and implemented fully.

"In 2004 officer Gurgen Margaryan was murdered only because he was
Armenian. The murderer who did that crime today is released and
pardoned sending an awful and unacceptable massage to all those who
work for reconciliation of two countries" said Kaltenbach.

On February 19 of 2004 in Budapest Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov
slayed with an ax Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan when the latter was
sleeping. The two officers were taking part in English language courses
in framework of NATO program in Budapest. Hungarian court sentenced
Ramil Safarov to life imprisonment, without a right to be pardoned
during the first 30 years in jail. On August 31 of 2012 Hungarian
authorites made a decision to extradite Safarov to Azerbaijan.
