    NATO IS CONCERNED ABOUT SAFAROV EXTRADITION: RASMUSSEN

    YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS: North Atlantic Treaty Organization is
    concerned about the release of Safarov by Azerbaijan. NATO Secretary
    General Anders Fogh Rasmussen came forth with a statement in the
    course of the meeting with the YSU students and professor staff on
    September 6.

    "The incident occurred in 2004 was a crime to be condemned. Similar
    steps do not contribute to peace in the region". In the words of
    Rasmussen horrible crime perpetrator should not be encouraged.The high
    ranking official stated neither NATO nor Hungary are not responsible
    for that, the crime is perpetrated by a person who was taken to
    court and convicted for committing the crime. The extradition was also
    conducted in accordance with the norms of international law. "I clearly
    share your feelings, I shall pass commensurate message to Azerbaijan"
    the interlocutor told. Anders Fogh Rasmussen stated " there is no
    return to the conflict". In a regional visit NATO Secretary General
    is set to have meetings with President Serzh Sargsyan, Foreign
    Minister Edward Nalbandyan and Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan,
    Armenpress reports.

    Over 1000 members of Yerevan State University "Young Universitarians
    union" welcomed NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen with
    protests on September 6. The youth called for justifice NATO Secretary
    General.
