YEREVAN. - Armenia's State Committee of Real Estate Cadastre Deputy
Head of Yerevan Territorial Subdivision, Robert Sargsyan, won
the parliamentary elections that were held Sunday in capital city
Yerevan's No.1 Electoral District. Sargsyan was nominated MP by the
    ruling Republican Party (RPA).

The Central Electoral Commission provided Armenian News-NEWS.am the
preliminary results of these elections, which are as follows: A total
    of 23,830 voters out of 64,763 eligible voters-or 36.82 percent-cast
their ballots. Robert Sargsyan, opposition Heritage Party Secretary
General Stiopa Safaryan, and self nominated Eduard Petrosyan received
    18,805, 3,680, and 461 votes respectively.

To note, Robert Sargsyan is the brother-in-law of Yerevan Mayor
    Taron Margaryan.

The MP mandate at Yerevan's No.1 Electoral District was vacated when
RPA MP, Football Federation of Armenia President, and businessman Ruben
Hayrapetyan formally gave up his parliamentary seat in connection with
the beating of several military doctors and the ensuing death of one
of them-Vahe Avetyan-at Yerevan's Harsnaqar Restaurant Complex which
    belongs to him.
