RIGA, Jan 25, BNS - Latvian President Andris Berzins has been invited
to visit Armenia, reported the president's press service.

The invitation was extended during the president's meeting with
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian who is on a working visit
    to Latvia.

Both officials discussed the Latvian-Armenian bilateral relations,
cooperation in the European Union (EU) context and security in
    the region.

Berzins suggested to step up economic cooperation as despite intense
contacts of officials at different levels, the cooperation potential
has not been used to a full extent.

The Armenian minister said that the mutual cooperation had been very
good and voiced a wish to promote intense cooperation in culture. He
also informed about topicalities regarding talks on the Nagorno
    Karabakh's issue.

Berzins voiced support and appreciated Armenia's progress in talks
with the European Commission on the new association agreement and
voiced hopes that there will also be progress in talks about deepened
    free trade agreement.
