ARSEN GHAZARYAN: TURKEY WILL BENEFIT MORE FROM THE OPENING OF THE BORDER

"Opening of the border with Turkey will mark the start of normal
relations between Armenia and Turkey. The most important is the
establishment of normal relations with the neigh or country, which will
promote our security and will reinforce the stability in the whole
region," Arsen Ghazaryan, Co-Chair of the Armenian-Turkish Business
Development Council, told Noyyan Tapan. In his opinion, it is more
beneficial for Turkey, since it is aspiring to join the European Union.
According to him, opening of the border will promote the development
of a number of branches economy in Armenia and Turkey, growth of
commodity turnover between the two states, as well as development
of regional cooperation. "For future generations we should leave a
developing economy and normal relations with neighbors," declared
Arsen Ghazaryan. He reminded that Turkey closed the border in 1993
as a sign of conformity with Azerbaijan on the Karabakh issue, and
in fact t was an economic sanction against Armenia.
