AS OF JUNE 8, NONE OF 5 NKR PRESIDENTIAL CONTENDERS HAS BEEN REGISTERED

NKR CEC keeps on studying the documents submitted by NKR presidential
contenders.
As ArmInfo special correspondent in Stepanakert reports, none of
the five candidates has been registered as yet. The final term of
registration is Jun 19. As Head of NKR CEC Sergey Nasibyan said,
according to the law, each of the five presidential contenders
submitted a document on pre-electoral pledge of 1 mln drams. If a
contender gathers less than 5% of votes, upon the election results, the
pledge will pass into the ownership of the state, if the votes are over
5%, the pledge will be returned to the candidate. The pre- electoral
fund of the candidates should not exceed 6 mln drams. According to
the Election Code, the fund is formed from own means of the candidate,
parties, which support this candidate, and donations of physical and
juridical persons. The polling stations have already been formed and
the voters' lists are posted up. The process of formation of district
commissions is underway.
To recall, NKR presidential contenders are Bako Sahakyan (Head of
NKR National Security Service), Masis Mailyan (NKR deputy FM), Armen
Abgaryan (NKR parliamentarian), Vanya Avnesyan (teacher of Artsakh
State University), Hrant Melkumyan (Head of NKR Communist party). The
election are scheduled for July 19.
