TRENT STUDENT WINS ETHNIC AWARD

A Trent University student has received a top award from a Canadian
media council.
Raffi Sarkissian, an education student in his final year, received
the Leader of Tomorrow Award Monday from the Ethnic Press and Media
Council of Canada.
Sarkissian is an Armenian-Canadian born and raised in Toronto. He was
recognized for his volunteer commitments with various Toronto Armenian
organizations as well as his speaking engagements with Toronto school
boards, where he discusses genocides in the 20th century. He also
writes for ethnic and school newspapers.
The award recognizes youths 16 to 25 who have combined academic
excellence and exemplary volunteer service and multicultural
leadership.
