Nov. 6--A new translation of a classic 17th century French play will
debut Nov. 14 at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs.

"Martyr!" is based on Pierre Corneille's neoclassical tragedy
"Polyeucte." The new translation is by Scot Lahaie, assistant professor
and director of theater, and Ute Lahaie, associate professor of
French and German in the Department of World Languages and Literature
    at Gardner-Webb.

The last translation of the play, which is about the founding of the
    Armenian church, was in 1957.

The play will premier at 7:30 p.m. in the Dover Theater. Shows
    on Nov. 15, 16 and 17 will also begin at 7:30 p.m. with a 2:30
    p.m. matinee on Nov. 18.
