YEREVAN.- There is a possibility of Turkey's military intervention in
Syria, Director of Institute of Oriental Studies Ruben Safrastyan told
reporters on Monday.
Another scenario suggests that assistance rendered to rebels will be
reduced. `Nevertheless, taking into account Ankara's policy, the
likelihood of military actions is increasing,' he added.
Safrastyan believes military intervention was one of the issues
discussed during Secretary Clinton's recent visit to Turkey.
`Most likely, the issue of possible NATO military operation was
discussed. However, the alliance is not ready to launch military
campaign at least till the U.S. presidential election scheduled for
the end of this year. It is proved by Clinton's proposal to set up a
joint working group,' Safrastyan noted.
