6-8 percent of world jewelry industry belongs to Armenians

YEREVAN. - The Armenian News-NEWS.am took an interview from the head
of the Armenian Jewelers Association (AJA) Gagik Gevorgyan, who
believes that jewelry is a fashion as well. At the moment people
prefer silver. Asked what position Armenia occupies compared to Italy
and India, two leading countries on jewelry, Gevorgyan said that the
best design schools have always been in Italy.
There are only some nations famous for their qualified jewelers, and
Armenia is among those nations. And it is not by chance that the World
Jewellery Confederation CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri estimated
the Armenian jewelers highly and he was present at an event dedicated
to the 15th anniversary of the AJA and the second international
exhibition on jewelers in Yerevan.
The Armenian jewelry expert pays great importance to free economic
zone, as it allows competing with China, India and other counties with
developed jewelry industry. As a matter of fact, 6 to 8 percent of
world jewelry industry belongs to the Armenian professionals.
